The Basic Life Support (BLS) course is the basic resuscitation course for all healthcare workers and members of the public, equipping them with the basic knowledge and skill of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). It is a 1-day course primarily consisting of face-to-face skills sessions in small groups of 3-4 participants under the tutelage of an experienced instructor. It is suitable for every healthcare provider, and for any persons who are responsible for the care of another human being.

Adult:

• • 1-man CPR
  • 2-man CPR
  • Early defibrillation – AED
  • Foreign body airway obstruction

Paediatric:

• • Infant/child CPR
  • Infant/child foreign body airway obstruction

4. Assessment

• Theory test consisting of 25 MCQ questions
• Practical skill is assessed during learning sessions
